Project Management is all GUESS work

A key to project success is having some form of guidance to follow, and a key attribute of a good project manager is adapting this guidance to your environment. This is influenced by a number of factors: personality, lack of organisational-wide buy-in/support, unwillingness to change business processes, lack of infrastructure to support a corporate wide methodology, poor understanding of what benefits project management can bring, and/or limited environment whereby project management can be practiced, and the list can go on.

Having guidance to follow and being able to use it effectively is only part of the project challenge. Use GUESS work – an acronym for being an effective project manager.
