The latest innovations from Microsoft

As delegates expect, Project Challenge always features a strong focus on technology innovations for the project management sector, and this autumn’s show will be no different.

Before the show opens its doors, Guillaume Garcin, Microsoft’s UK Product Marketing Manager for Project & Visio, gives us a preview of the latest trends and technologies you can expect from the undisputed market leader.

The Cloud is coming into its own

In recent months Microsoft has witnessed incredible momentum around new take-up of our Cloud offerings. In particular, Office 365 is the fastest growing commercial product in Microsoft’s history and has been purchased by 70% of Fortune 500 companies in the past year.

That’s hardly surprising, given that Office 365 provides comprehensive access to the apps you’ve come to depend on including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Exchange, Lync and OneDrive for Business. These, together with a dynamic set of Cloud-connected tools, help you communicate, collaborate and get more done on the devices you use most, whenever you need it and wherever you are.

PPM innovations for a changing marketplace

Innovations across our project & portfolio management (PPM) solutions are huge. For the many companies that use multiple PPM tools, a unified solution aligned to new Cloud capabilities can significantly streamline delivery and return on investment.

Our response is Project Online: a comprehensive tool for project management, team collaboration, resources management, portfolio management and reporting. Centralised, real time access to this information streamlines resource allocation, improves decision making and frees up valuable time to focus on simply getting the job done and completing successful projects.

With Office 365, Microsoft Project Online can be up and running surprisingly quickly and cheaply, with a much faster time to value. Plus, we have more apps than ever before available on the Office store to help you customise your unified solution.

Leading the way in advanced technology:

For Microsoft, innovation has never been so exciting and quick. We are seeing huge potential ahead in terms of meeting and exceeding project management challenges and expectations. In March 2014 we demo’d Office Delve, which applies sophisticated machine learning techniques to connect you to the relevant documents, conversations and people around you, increasing user productivity. We are also at the forefront of natural language developments with Power BI, which allows you to search with a general question – for example: “Show me all the projects that are running late and/or under resourced”. Power BI will generate comprehensive results, share your queries, share your knowledge and equip you to collaborate in a more effective way.
Project Challenge is a key event for us and we’re excited about showing the market just what can be achieved with our latest products. Come along, meet Microsoft and our partners and find out what our latest innovations and Cloud products can help your organisation to achieve.

Project Challenge is free to attend and features 40 seminars across 4 learning zones as well as Microsoft, Microsoft partners and many other technology providers on the exhibition floor.
